Investing in responsible Carbon Credits

Carbon offsetting is a climate action that enables individuals and organizations to compensate for the emissions they cannot avoid, by supporting ethical and responsible environmental projects that reduce emissions. It is the option of last resort as companies and individuals should ideally aim to reduce and stop their carbon emissions as their number one priority. Unfortunately this is not always 100% possible as transport and energy usage play a bit part of our day to day lives.

Steps you can make today:

  1. Map and measure your carbon footprint
  2. Verify your findings by independent experts like The Clean Earth Collective
  3. Take action to reduce your emissions
  4. Engage with your supply chain and encourage them to be Climate Positive
  5. Neutralise your remaining carbon emissions by investing in responsible carbon offsets

The greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduced through offsetting are measured in UN Certified Emission Reductions (CERs). The CERs are generated from Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects. These projects, which are located in developing countries, earn 1 CER for each metric tonne of GHG emissions they reduce or avoid and are measured in CO2 equivalent (CO2-eq). This short film explains the principle behind carbon offsetting.
